WEMW Development Award for best project goes to ANISHOARA by Weydemann Bros

    German project wins third edition of Trieste co-production forum

    Trieste, January 22, 2013 – ANISHOARA, the story of a 14-year-old girl from Moldavia suspended between childhood and adolescence is the winner of the third edition of When East Meets West.

    ANISHOARA, presented by Berlin-based production company Weydemann Bros, was honored with the WEMW Development Award as the best of the 22 projects in competition by an international jury of experts consisting of Nikolaj Nikitin of FILMPLUS, Matthieu Darras of the TORINO FILM LAB and Kristina Trapp, chief executive EAVE.

    Jury special mention goes to ARSHDRIVER by Opus Film, Poland
    The grant for the participation in the next edition of the EAVE EUROPEAN PRODUCERS WORKSHOP goes to the Bulgarian producers Ana Alexieva and Maria Averina, from Agitprop for the project  FROM KREMONA TO CREMONA.
    Organized by the Audiovisual Fund of Friuli Venezia Giulia in collaboration with the Trieste Film Festival, When East Meets West is dedicated to co-productions between Eastern and Western Europe. Every year, WEMW puts one Western European region in the spotlight. This year, the focus was on the German speaking countries (Austria, Germany and Switzerland).

    For the first time, this third edition of WEMW was supported by the MEDIA Programme, enabling the presence of more than 300 participants among which there were 150 international guests and allowing this business meeting to continue to grow and develop.
