CineStar hosted a gala opening of its 12th multiplex cinema in the region, CineStar Slavonski Brod, located at City Colosseum, the biggest and the most modern shopping mall in the centre of Croatia’s region Slavonija. The gala opening, which was held on Thursday, April 11th 2013, was a huge success and had over 1,000 attendees celebrating this long-awaited event.
Slavonski Brod is located at an important intersection of the highway connecting Zagreb (Croatia) and Belgrade (Serbia) and is positioned at the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is directly connected with Bosnian town Bosanski Brod, located immediately across the river Sava. As neither of the two cities had a cinema for over past 7 years, opening of CineStar Slavonski Brod was an important segment for citizens of both towns and the region overall as it brought the amazing world of cinema experience back to their neighbourhood.
CineStar Slavonski Brod has a total of four screens - three of which are equipped with RealD 3D technology while the last one has a specialized eXtreme 100 m2 screen. With a total of 512 seats, CineStar Slavonski Brod contains seats for persons with disabilities as well as 96 VIP seats, located in last two rows of each cinema. Extra-large and very comfortable VIP seats, with an extra side-table, have been specifically designed to ensure our visitors have a truly relaxing and pleasant cinema experience.
Over 150 new films will be shown in CineStar Slavonski Brod each year, ensuring that world’s largest blockbusters are released in our cinemas at the same time as in the rest of the world. After successfully finishing and putting in operation the project in Slavonski Brod, CineStar cinemas’ next step will be opening of CineStar cinema in famously known “hero city” of Vukovar (Fall 2013), which suffered a terrible destruction during the war in the 1990’s, where approx. 1,600 soldiers and civilians were killed, and over 1,000 victims of war still account as missing.
