The third edition of peacefulfish’s Closing The Gap: Equity Investment training course culminated in a pitching session with investors hosted by the Investitions Bank Berlin (IBB) from 24 through 26 June 2013. The Closing The Gap producers pitched their film projects to a panel of European investors including:
> individual business angels
> representatives of business angel networks
> venture capital fund managers
> mediatech financiers
> managers of equity-based film funds
These investors gave each of the participating producers detailed feedback about their project pitches and investment offers both during the pitching session itself and during several networking events held in Berlin over the two-and-a-half days of the event. Since the course’s launch in 2011, more than 10 projects have entered some form of production and around 50% percent have received investment or commitments of investment related to their participation in Closing The Gap.
Organized by creative industries financing consultancy peacefulfish (Berlin/London/ Brussels/Cannes) in association with the pan-European investor network Media Deals (Paris/Berlin), the Apulia Film Commission (Italy), and the Investitions Bank Berlin (Germany), the course trains producers on how to identify, approach, and pitch to equity investors, teaching business skills that producers can use to find new sources of financing in the current financial climate.
