Eye on Films – New acquisitions:

Eye on Films – Croatia - 4th Avvantura Festival Zadar – from the 24th to the 30th of August 2013
In the framework of Eye on Films’ partnership with Avvantura Festival, 11 first feature films were selected from the EoF label to participate in the official program of this year’s festival edition.
The following 3 films were selected in the Official Competition of the festival:

• Silent Ones by Ricky Rijneke (The Netherlands)
• House with a Turret by Eva Neymann (Ukraine)
• Mourning by Morteza Farshbaf (Iran)

The following 8 other films were included in the 1st and 2nd Feature Films Competition Section:

• The Cutoff Man by Idan Hubel (Israel)
• Jo’s Neighborhood by Alain Minier (France)
• Hide your Smiling Faces by Daniel Patrick Carbone (USA)
• Morning Star by Sophie Blondy (France)
• Villegas by Gonzalo Tobal (Argentina)
• People Out There by Aik Karapetian (Latvia)
• Water by 7 directors – Nir Sa’ar & Maya Sarfaty, Mohammad Fuad, Yona Rozenkier, Mohammad Bakri, Ahmad Bargouthi, Pini Tavger, Tal Haring – (Israel)
• Sons of the Wind by Bruno Le Jean (France).

Eye on Films was delighted by the success of the EOF titles, as 5 of the 11 awards given by the Festival were granted to EoF films.

•  The award for BEST FIRST AND SECOND FEATURE FILM was given to THE CUTOFF MAN by Idan Hubel (International Sales: Urban Distribution International). The award was accompanied by a prize of 10 000 kunas/1 500. Euros, donation by EUROHERC. The prize is addressed to the film’s International Sales Agent as a support for potential upcoming distribution of the film.
• “THE GOLDEN FISH” AWARD (FOR CREATIVITY AND PERFORMANCE IN THE FILM ART) was given to the American musician and actor in Sophie Blondy’s first feature film MORNING STAR (International Sales: Wide), IGGY POP
• The award for BEST FILM OF THE “EYE ON FILMS” PLATFORM was given to VILLEGAS by Gonzalo Tobal (International Sales: Urban Distribution International).
• The award for BEST SCREENPLAY was given to ANAHITA GHAZVINIZADEH and MORTEZA FARSHBAF for the film MOURNING by Morteza Farshbaf (International Sales: Wide)
• The award for BEST FEMALE LEADING ROLE was given to NERMINA LUKAČ for EAT SLEEP DIE by Gabriela Pichler (non EOF title) and SHARAREH PASHA for MOURNING by Morteza Farshbaf (International Sales: Wide)

Also, three Eye on Films directors were specially invited to attend the festival in order to support their films:

• Ricky Rijneke, director of SILENT ONES
• Sophie Blondy, director of MORNING STAR
• Alain Minier, director of JO’S NEIGHBORHOOD

A Q&A was held with all three directors after the screening of each of their films.
Furthermore, an special Eye on Films conference took place on the 26th of August with the Director of the Avvantura Film Festival, Sergej Stanojkovski, Eye on Films’ representatives Loic Magneron (President of WIDE and Eye on Films) and Ioanna Stais (Eye on Films coordinator), as well as the two EOF directors Ricky Rijneke and Sophie Blondy.
This second year of active partnership with Avvantura Film Festival was extremely fruitful not only in terms of film selections and awards but also thanks to the invited participants and various activities that were organized.

CROATIAN TELECOM : NEW VOD PLATFORM PARTNER
Eye on Films has joined forces with Dailymotion, Avvantura Festival Zadar and Croatian Telecom in order to offer a selection of titles soon available on Croatian Telecoms’
online platform, t-portal.hr.
The films of the EoF label will shortly be available on VoD on Croatian Telecoms’ online platform tportal.hr as part of MAXtv Filmofeel project.

Eye on Films – Slovakia – 8th Cinematik Piešťany Film Festival – form the 6th to the 12th of September 2013
Eye on Films’ partner, Cinematik Piešťany Film Festival renewed once again its special section dedicated to EOF, in this year’s edition of the festival, with a selection of 5 titles:

•  People Out There by Aik Karapetian (Latvia)
• House with a Turret by Eva Neymann (Ukraine)
• Elena by Petra Costa (Brazil)
• Artificial Paradises by Marcos Prado (Brazil)
• Water by 7 directors – Nir Sa’ar & Maya Sarfaty, Mohammad Fuad, Yona Rozenkier, Mohammad Bakri, Ahmad Bargouthi, Pini Tavger, Tal Haring – (Israel)
• A special voting session was held and the award was given to WATER for the BEST EYE ON FILMS TITLE.
