Five feature films compete this year for the Best Film trophy, awarded during the Gopo Awards Gala: The Japanese Dog (by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu), When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism (by Corneliu Porumboiu), The Unsaved (by Igor Cobileanski), Child's Pose (by Călin Peter Netzer) and Rocker (by Marian Crișan).
The same five filmmakers – Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, Corneliu Porumboiu, Igor Cobileanski, Călin Peter Netzer and Marian Crișan – also compete in the Best Director category.
65 Romanian films (features and short, fiction and documentary) which premiered in 2013 domestically in cinemas or internationally in various film festivals were the basis for the nominations of the 8th Gopo Awards Gala which will take place on March 24.
