The CNC launches the ACM Distribution scheme with the support of MEDIA

    Paris, June 23, 2015
With the support of the European Commission's Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-program, the CNC is endowing Aide aux Cinémas du Monde (ACM - aid for cinema worldwide), a scheme co-managed by the CNC and the French Institute, with new funding arrangements aimed at promoting the international distribution of films supported at the production stage.

Dubbed ACM Distribution, this new scheme, selected by the Creative Europe program agency further to an invitation to apply for a grant from the international co-production fund launched in December 2014, aims to promote the circulation in Europe and throughout the world of international co-productions listed in the catalog of films backed by the ACM involving a non-European partner.

"I am delighted with this initial partnership with the European Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-program, which makes the ACM one of the prime movers of cooperation between Europe and authors all over the world. I am very grateful to the European Commission for having placed their trust in us and given us their backing in this experiment" said President Frédérique Bredin.

While the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention will be celebrated this year, this European project is also a way to help protect and promote cultural diversity through an essential scheme supporting diversity in movie-making worldwide. "It is a real opportunity for ACM films, which are a reflection of creation all over the world and are regularly awarded prizes in major international film festivals, to boost and stimulate their commercial distribution in movie theaters and on online platforms in more and more countries" said Frédérique Bredin. To date, 156 films have been supported, made by directors of 64 different nationalities, including 46 non-European nationalities. This year a record number of 17 films supported by the ACM were selected in the different sections of the Cannes Festival.

This new selective aid will be open to European companies proposing innovative distribution and promotion strategies for one or more ACM films in at least 3 territories, including one European territory outside France and one territory outside Europe.

A presentation of this program and its terms and conditions (amounts and criteria) will take place in September 2015, when the first call for applications is issued.
