The Emerging Producers are representatives of a new generation of European documentary film producers. The Emerging Producers list includes so far 71 names from 28 European countries, many of whom have already firmly established themselves on the documentary scene since the launch of the programme in 2012.
Eighteen Emerging producers traditionally participate in the specially designed programme at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival held annually in October.
During the upcoming Berlinale, the Emerging Producers will also be introduced at a special event, organised by Jihlava IDFF on Monday, February 15 from 19.00 at the Czech Embassy in Berlin (Wilhelmstrasse 44).
The Emerging Producers programme provides promotion possibilities, offers platform for networking and helps its participants with navigation in the European film industry space and institutions.
"With growing number of applicants every year, Emerging Producer has already become a prestigious title," says Jarmila Outratová, Head of Industry at Jihlava IDFF.
The main objective of the programme is to identify new talents and interconnect these European producers with other film professionals working in documentary cinematography. The project also aims to help its participants to establish contacts with producers from other countries, and thus increase the potential of future European coproduction projects.
The deadline for submissions for the Emerging Producers 2017 programme is March 31, 2016. The candidate producers are expected to have a several years’ experience on the local market with a capacity for professional growth and with ambitions to be active on the European market. The applicants must have at least one realized film, which has entered theatrical distribution or has been screened at film festivals.
