It was the first time that Ukraine has participated in the ScripTeast screenwriting programme which celebrated its 10th edition at a special gala ceremony during the Cannes Film Festival. ScripTeast is organised by Poland’s Independent Film Foundation and supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme and the Polish Film Institute.
The winner was selected by the Advisory Board members: Sandy Lieberson, Simon Perry, Manfred Schmidt, Antonio Saura, Dariusz Jablonski and ScripTeast’s Heads of Studies: Tom Abrams and Christian Routh.
The Advisory Board explained their decision with the following citation: “This year’s ScripTeast Kieslowski award goes to a script that is unusually rich in cinematic potential. It presents an intoxicating array of characters and narratives, woven together to create an extraordinary world that is at once terrifying, magical, sensual and hilarious, but never less than authentic. The writer’s imagination sparkles on the page, and we are all excited to see how this vision can be realized for the screen”
A number of previous Kieslowski award winners have already been produced, including “The House” (Zuzana Liova – Slovakia ), “Womb” (Benedek Fliegauf - Hungary), “The Japanese Dog” (Ioan Antoci - Romania), and “False Witness” (Iglika Triffonova - Bulgaria).
