DIGITAL PRODUCTION CHALLENGE II enters its eighth year.
The European workshop on digital production workflows, especially designed for 25 film professionals, is a multi-disciplinary initiative widening its doors to all film professionals and from all countries.
Including filmmakers, cinematographers, sales agents, distributors, With priority given to producers, line producers, production managers and post-production supervisors.
Working on feature, documentary and cross-media projects.
This upcoming edition will take place in Portugal, Lisbon, from 30 November to 3 December 2016.
It will be run in English by an experienced pool of professionals including:
- Martin Hagemann, German producer at zero fiction (“The Turin Horse” by Béla Tarr, “Fay Grimm” by Hal Hartley, “Moloch” & “Father and Son” by Aleksandr Sokurov),
- Philippe Ros, French DoP & Digital Imaging Supervisor, AFC (“Oceans” by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud, “Home” by Yann Arthus-Bertrand),
- Florian Rettich, German DIT & Workflow Supervisor (“Pina” by Wim Wenders, “Die Wermessung der Welt” by Detlev Buck, “Highlander – The Source” by Brett Leonard)
- Tommaso Vergallo, French post-production expert (Noir Lumière) with a 20 year experience at Swiss Effects, Duboi, Quinta and Digimage (“Amelie” by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, “Asterix and Obelix, Mission Cleopatra by Alain Chabat”, “René” by Alain Cavalier, “Amour” by Michael Haneke, “Ten” by Abbas Kiarostami“, ”On the Road” by Walter Salles).
How to be digitally smart and benefit from the ever changing developments in post-production?
This 3,5-day Workshop gives the participants the methods and tools to
- become acquainted with the main post-production workflows available in the European market
- best position the production of their feature or documentary film for the digital post-production workflow
- communicate and optimize the division of tasks between the many collaborators involved, from the director to the many post-production providers
- understand the importance of archiving, the advantages and disadvantages of digital distribution and be prepared for tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities.
…thanks to a mix of technical focuses, round tables, discussions on participants’ projects and case study presentations such as “The Wave” with the Norwegian cinematographer John Christian Rosenlund as the main speaker.
DIGITAL PRODUCTION CHALLENGE II is proposed by FOCAL resource in co-operation with FOCAL with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA, a programme of the European Union.

Participation fee for 3,5 days (including meals):
350 Euro for full board accommodation (excluding travel). Some scholarships are available.
