The Romanian comedy entered this year box office in the first position and has achieved similar incomes as American blockbusters such as ‘Avengers’, ‘Aquaman’, ‘Fifty Shades Freed’, ‘Venom’ and ‘Deadpool 2’. ‘Oh, Ramona!’ entries are double of the second position film in the box office entries, Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, also opening this weekend in Romania.
Cristina Jacob, the director now surpassing her own audience performance set in 2016 with ‘Selfie 69,’ said: ‘Thank you for so many of you going at the cinema to watch this movie! It is the most beautiful reward for the work of the whole team. For me this means more than any award. 111,881 spectators in the first weekend is a verge exceeded for the first time by a Romanian film. It's a sign that our audience - the young one, in the first place - starts to trust our films. The enthusiastic response of the Z generation shows that we have managed to meet their expectations and surprise them.’
Very much awaited by the young audience, the film received thousands of positive feedbacks and recommendations via social media from those who have watched it: ‘A movie you laughed at with tears while watching, from beginning to end. The cinema theatre was full, I watched the film from the first row but this issue never bother me. It's even better than the American comedies,’ ‘It was brilliant. I enthusiastically watched all the scenes and loved the analogies,’ ‘The hottest Romanian film idea. I'm glad we finally got tickets,’ or ‘A great movie, which I would watch over and over again hundreds of times.’
Bogdan Iancu as a leading actor next to the other six main British and American actors (Aggy K. Adams, Holly Horne, Basil Eidenben, Andromeda Godfrey, Leonardo Boudreau and Melanie Ebanks) were very much appreciated for their performance.
Many young stars have watched the movie too. ‘It was very funny, we laughed a lot and we enjoyed the analogies scenes,’ stated the Munteanu brothers vloggers. Laura Giurcanu star vlogger adds: ‘In this film you can see the Black Sea, next to cities like Brașov and Bucharest in a way you haven’t seen before.’ Alina Eremia pop singer concludes: ‘I invite you to join and watch it. I laughed my head off during the movie.’
‘Oh, Ramona’ comedy pic is a Zazu Film production, distributed by Jacob Bros, currently running in 109 cinema halls from 50 Romanian cities.
