Taking place on the private island of San Servolo in Venice, during the Venice Film Festival, the next workshop of the European VoD meetings will gather around 60 professionals from digital distribution and service providers working for and with VoD platforms, such as VoD platforms, distributors or aggregators, but also rights holders (festivals, producers, authors, cinematheques..), film institutions, tech companies. The last edition of the training counted for both workshops 56 different participants, 33 expertsand speakers, representing 69 companies from 24 countries. The European VoD Meetings are the 1st training course for audiovisual professionals working in the VoD sector, with a focus on independent and European films, to exchange their experience with their peers & stay up to date with the sector's developments. EUROVOD GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN CANNES
On May 16th, the EuroVoD members gathered for the General Assembly to discuss achievements from the past year as well as the challenges for the year to come. The association presented a report on its activity in 2018, which has been an important year with a shift in strategy, focusing now on training, networking, lobbying and fostering the competitiveness of the European VoD sector.
Following this new trajectory, EuroVoD expanded and welcomed 11 new members in 2018, as well as 7 new members since the beginning of 2019, bringing the total number of members to 20 core members and 5 associate members, coming from 18 countries and covering all the territories worldwide (34 territories from national and international platforms, and 4 global services), and presenting an average of 76% European films in the common catalogues of the members of the association.
The Board of Directors also reported on the successful first edition of the European VoD Meetings, supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, whose next editions will take place in Venice (2-5 September 2019) and in Sofia (18-21 March 2020). The first edition of the training gathered 89 executive professionals representing 69 companies coming from 24 countries, mainly European, but also from India, Colombia, Greenland,Mexico, and US. The General assembly was also an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation among the members through the development of common projects, sharing of resources, benchmarking and fostering a knowledge economy in the independent VoD sector, facilitating a collaborative management between VoD platforms and pooling resources to increase the competitiveness of the sector.
The discussion of EuroVoD acting as an inclusive point of reference for the European public institutions' VoD services funding schemes was also addressed.

EUROPEAN AUDIOVISUAL OBSERVATORY
On April 25th in Brussels, Marta Jiménez Pumares presented the study 'Audiovisual Content Streaming: Setting the scene', with up to date facts and figures on the current streaming market.

CREATIVE EUROPE MEDIA FUNDING
On April 30th has been published the Open Call 'Bridging Culture and Audiovisual Content through Digital'. The project should be at the cross roads between different cultural and creative sectors, for instance through the use of innovative technologies. It will also foster innovative cross-sectoral approaches and tools to facilitate access, distribution, promotion and monetisation of culture and creativity, including cultural heritage. It should be implemented in at least 1 of the following areas: museums, live performance or cultural heritage. Projects require at least 3 partners established in 3 countries participating in the Creative Europe programme.Application Deadline: June 20th, 2019
