Producers Lab Toronto
EFP has long collaborated with the Toronto International Film Festival in presenting new European cinema at the festival. In extending this 13-year partnership to include a new initiative in 2010 with two additional partners, the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), EFP intends to facilitate meetings and discussions involving producers from EU countries and Canada, to exchange projects, ideas and knowledge. EFP plans to invite selected European producers from the "Producers on the Move" programme; the Canadian producers will be selected by the local partners.
Bridges Europe/Turkey
2010 will see Istanbul take on the role of European Capital of Culture, which provides a unique background for a special programme of European and Turkish films to be screened during the 29th edition of the Istanbul International Film Festival. EFP, in close cooperation with the festival authorities, will organise and present a programme of new European and Turkish films with the aim of facilitating and improving the distribution of European films in Turkey and, at the same time, those of Turkish films in European countries. Bridges Europe/Turkey also aims to raise public awareness by organising information and publicity campaigns.
According to Éva Vezér, EFP President: "The MEDIA Programme has been a long-standing and vital supporter of EFP activities. As international co-productions are increasing, it is the right time to provide the opportunity of supporting the collaboration of professionals, as well as the promotion of films, from both inside and outside of Europe. We are ready to work with our new partners on the two very promising events."
