International Film Festival Tofifest is one of the most important summer film festivals in Poland. Media called this festival "disobedient" because it shows not only world-class artists, but also presents young, ambitious, rebellious, debuting filmmakers.
The Grand Prix of the 8th International Film Festival Tofifest 2010 - Golden Angel got the Turkish film "10 to 11," directed by Pelin Esmer. The second prize - Silver Angel and the title of Best Director received Romanian Bobby Paunescu for the film "Francesca."
For the first time in Tofifest history the main prize in International SHORTCUT Competition received Polish shortfilm. The winner film “Hanoi-Warsaw” directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz was produced by Telewizja Kino Polska. This is the second prestigious award after the Special Jury Prize in the Young Cinema Competition on the 34th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, and many others international nominations e.g. the European Film Academy Award in the category of Best Short Film.
Film "Hanoi-Warsaw" is the result of the competition for best scenario - "The Debutants”, announced by Kino Polska Television. The purpose of the competition was to select young talents and to stimulate interest in short-form narrative. The main prize was production the film based on the winning script by Kino Polska Television. The project’s co-producers were Mastershot Studio, 1.2 Film Association, Polish Filmmakers Association and the Andrzej Munk Studio "The Young and Film".
Directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, the film tells the story of a young Vietnamese girl - Mai Anh, who illegally crosses the Polish border. The woman has to reach Warsaw, where her fiancé waits for her. Travel across Poland is full of humiliation and violence.
The Polish Competition FROM POLAND of the 8th International Film Festival Tofifest 2010, won Wojciech Smarzowski movie "The Dark House" coo produced by SPI International Poland. This award is granted by viewers who vote for their favorite picture.
