The "Tail Operation" - a docudrama written by Włodzimierz Kuligowski presents one of the most peremptory and secretive operations in history of the communist Poland intelligence. It is a story of Piotr Jeglinski - a student of History Dept at the prestigious KUL, University of Lublin - who had been central for integrating an opposition circles in the late 70s. With help of Kazimierz - an agent, who had been one of the couriers of Piotr Jeglinski's special net of smugglers of the black-listed literature to the communist country - the police decides to eliminate Piotr Jeglinski and starts an operation under the cryptonym the "Tail"...

At the centre of the "My Father, the Iron Curtain and Me", produced by TVP Kultura, is the relationship between father and son. The father in question, classical composer Andrzej Panufnik, died in 1991 and his son Jem, DJ and dance music creator has always managed to keep a lid on his feelings of loss. Until now, that is. We follow Jem as he makes the journey to Poland to find out more about his father's early life. In particular Jem wants to understand the reasons for his father's defection to the West in 1954 when he was around 40 years old and at the height of his fame. The journey is a poignant one because Jem has turned 40 and, feeling overshadowed by the achievements of his famous father, he is questioning his own musical career and aspirations.

"The Tail Operation" is nominated in the "Best Historical Drama Production" category, while "My Father, the Iron Curtain and Me" - in the "Best Current Affairs Production" category. The awards gala will be hosted by Alison Stewart, award-winning broadcast news veteran and co-anchor of one of PBS's TV and web newsmagazines.
