WARSAW: The BreakThru Films animation studio, known for Loving Vincent and Peter and the Wolf, is starting the shooting for a new project The Peasants directed by Dorota Kobiela, based on the novel by Nobel prize winner Władysław Stanisław Reymont.
PRODUCTION: Jaak Kilmi Shoots Kids Thriller
TALLINN: Jaak Kilmi’s children’s feature The Sleeping Beast / Tagurpidi torn, produced by Stellar Film, started shooting on 3 August and will continue until 11 September 2020. The shooting takes place in Laitse Radio Station, a now abandoned broadcasting complex built in the 50s, and also in the South of Estonia in the Tartu Film Fund's region.

BUCHAREST: Romania-born Sweden-based film director and visual artist Ștefan Constantinescu started the shooting on his debut feature Man-Dog on 10 August 2020. The film is a Romanian/Bulgarian/Swedish/German coproduction produced by Ada Solomon and Diana Păroiu through microFILM.
PRODUCTION: Slovenian National Television Shoots New Crime Series
PORTOROŽ: Slovenia’s national television RTV Slovenija started shooting a new television crime series Cases of Inspector Vrenko / Primeri inšpektorja Vrenka on 1 August 2020 in Maribor. It is based on a series of novels by Tomaž Zupančič, alias Avgust Demšar.
PRODUCTION: Staņislavs Tokalovs Shooting Latvian/Estonian Coproduction
RIGA: Staņislavs Tokalovs’ sophomore feature Lovable / Mīlulis started shooting in Riga on 4 August 2020. The film is produced by Latvia’s Tasse Film in coproduction with Estonia’s Stellar Films (Estonia). The expected release is set for the end of 2021.

TALLINN: Memory of Water, the adaptation of the eponymous bestseller by Emmi Itäranta, is currently shooting near Tallinn. The film directed by Saara Saarela is a Finnish/Estonian/German/Norwegian coproduction with a budget of 3.5 m EUR.
PRODUCTION: Bulgarian Director Zornitsa Sophia Preps Duology on Unconventional Motherhood
SOFIA: Bulgarian director Zornitsa Sophia is working simultaneously on two projects united by the theme of motherhood. Mother is in the final stage of financing and its sequel, Three Kilograms of Happiness (Baby), is in early stage of development. Sophia is mostly Known for her Mila From Mars (2004, produced by All Things Production) and Voevoda (2017, MQ Pictures).
PRODUCTION: Misho Antadze in Postproduction with Doc about Stalin and Guilt
TBILISI: Georgian director Misho Antadze is currently in postproduction with the documentary Ozymandias. Seventy years after his death, the statues of Stalin still populate the Georgian landscape. Looking and listening for geopolitics past and present in everyday life, Ozymandias is an attempt at confronting the invisible forces of history.

VILNIUS: Lithuania’s Čiobreliai/M-Films is coproducing Juanjo‘s Gimenez debut feature Three / Tres, which will start shooting in Spain in September 2020. The film is a Spanish/French/Lithuanian coproduction. Juanjo Gimenez won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival with his short film Timecode (2016).
PRODUCTION: Serbian Thriller Series Black Wedding Starts Production
BELGRADE: Serbian TV drama series Black Wedding / Crna svadba has started production on 15 July 2020. The release of this 10-part series is planned for the spring of 2021 on Superstar Channel.
PRODUCTION: Stanislav Kapralov in Postproduction with Horror Film Shot in Georgia
TBILISI: Ukrainian/ American director Stanislav Kapralov is in postproduction with the horror film Let It Snow, which he shot in the Georgian Gudauri Mountains in the winter of 2019. The film serviced by the Georgian company FX Film was shot as part of the Film In Georgia programme benefitting from Georgia’s cash rebate system.

WARSAW: The fourth part of the Polish box office hit comedy series Kogel Mogel started shooting in Warsaw mid-July 2020 with plans of release in Polish cinemas in January 2021. Ilona Łepkowska is again the scriptwriter, but this time the director is Anna Wieczur-Bluszcz.

TALLINN: The first part of the medieval crime trilogy Melchior the Apothecary started shooting on 13 July 2020 in Tallinn. The Estonian/Latvian/German coproduction is based on Indrek Hargla's successful crime novels.
PRODUCTION: Georgian Director Tato Kotetishvili Preps Holy Electricity
TBILISI: Georgian director/cinematographer Tato Kotetishvili is in preproduction with his first feature film Holy Electricity. The filming is planned for the autumn of 2021 in Tbilisi. The producers of the project are Irakli Metreveli and Tekla Machavariani.
PRODUCTION: Liviu Mărghidan Shoots Adventure Drama at 2,000 Meters
BUCHAREST: The DoP/producer/director Liviu Mărghidan is currently in production with his third feature film as a director. Refuge (working title) is an adventure drama whose shooting entails a high degree of risk but which is a balance of his passion for cinema with a passion for climbing. The shooting takes place at an altitude ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 meters with two children in the cast.
