LJUBLJANA: Damjan Kozole began production on the Slovenian/Macedonian/Serbian/Croatian coproduction Half-Sister / Polsestra on 27 October 2018. The 32 days of filming are taking place in Ljubljana and the Slovenian fishing village of Izola, and will be completed on 14 December.

SARAJEVO: Nermin Hamzagić’s debut feature film Full Moon / Pun mjesec, which was shot in 15 days during the months of August and September, entered the postproduction phase with a boost from the Film Fund of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which supported the production in its most recent grants round.

SKOPJE: Academy award nominated Macedonian film director Milcho Manchevski started shooting his sixth feature film Willow / Vrba, produced by Banana Film, in the Macedonian village Krushevica. The shooting, which started on 25 October 2018 and will wrap at the beginning of December, will also take place in the picturesque Mariovo villages of Stavica, Dunje and Zovich, Treskavec, in the Prespa region and in different locations in Skopje.

TBILISI: Georgian director Vakhtang Kuntsev-Gabashvili is in production with Cinemania.MSHT-15, a Georgianfull-length documentary shooting in Georgia.

BELGRADE: The Film Fund of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the most recent fund to provide support for Mirjana Karanović’s fiction feature Mara, with a grant of 55,000 KM / 28,121 EUR. The film is planned as a coproduction between Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro.

PRAGUE: Irena Pavlásková is shooting The Prague Orgy, based on the novel by the famous American writer Philip Roth, who died earlier this year. The project with international cast is shot in English.

LJUBLJANA: Italian director Davide Del Degan has started shooting on a Slovenian minority coproduction Paradise with Katarina Čas, in the Slovenian town Grosuplje. The 30-day shoot, which will also take place in Piran and in Sauris (Italy), will wrap on 30 November 2018.

BELGRADE: Labour Day / Prvi maj, Mladen Đorđević’s new feature film project, has received a 40,000 EUR grant from the Greek Film Centre, making it yet another Serbian/Greek coproduction.

ZAGREB: The Belgian/Dutch/Bulgarian/Croatian coproduction The Barefoot Emperor / Bosonogi car completed filming in Croatia on 15 October.

BRATISLAVA: Peter Bebjak, winner of Karlovy Vary IFF's award for Best Diector, is working on the 12-episode TV series The Slavs, currently in pre-production. The series is produced by Slovakia’s Wandal Production and European Partnership Media Group.

TBILISI: Tamar Shavgulidze’s feature film My House in Front of the Forest has completed shooting in Tsavkisi and now moves into post-production.

PRAGUE: Czech writer/director Stepan Altrichter is currently shooting the Czech/German coproduction National Street in Prague. The film is produced by Pavel Strnad and Petr Oukropec for Negativ.

BRATISLAVA: One of Slovakia’s busiest filmmakers, award winning director Peter Bebjak, is in preproduction with the feature film The Report / Správa about Alfréd Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, two Slovak Jews who managed to escape from Auschwitz in April 1944 and write a detailed report on the concentration camp, which they delivered to the Allies.

ZAGREB: Croatian director Goran Dević is in production with the Croatian/Slovenian coproduction What's to Be Done? / Što da se radi, a 90 minutes docu-fiction following the efforts of a union leader and the workers of a train factory to hold on to what they feel is “their” factory.

SALONTA: Romanian director Marian Crișan is currently shooting his fourth feature film Berliner in his hometown of Salonta, in Northern Transylvania. Moldavian DoP Oleg Mutu, who shot Cristian Mungiu’s 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and Beyond the Hills (Mobra Films), is lensing.

TALLINN: Estonian director Peeter Rebane started shooting his first feature film Firebird, starring Tom Prior, at the end of September 2018. Shooting will last throughout October mostly in the northeastern part of Estonia, Ida-Virumaa.
