RIGA: The Latvian director Signe Birkova is concluding postproduction on her documentary Ring of Fire / Ugunsaplis, which focuses on a group of four actors who have formed their own theatre company Kvadrifons and started to stage plays in the 130 year-old building of the Riga Circus. The film is produced by Uldis Cekulis for VFS Films.

BELGRADE: The Serbian/Croatian thriller Isolation / Izolacija directed by Marko Backović is currently in production. The film stars Miloš Biković, the most popular Serbian actor at the moment, who is also one of the producers.

ŠIBENIK: The Canadian/Hungarian/Croatian coproduction Infinity Pool directed by Brandon Cronenberg, a thriller about a novelist who unsuccessfully tries to write his second book during an all-inclusive vacation with his wife, is currently being shot at the Amadria Park resort in Šibenik, Croatia.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian director Ion Ioachim Stroe is currently in postproduction with his debut feature There Is No One Here / Aici nu e nimeni, which is the first independent debut feature from the Bucharest-based production outfit Wearebasca.

BUDAPEST: Benő Baranyi is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Zanox, a sci-fi comedy about a high school student who, after consuming an experimental medicine with palinka, is able to travel through time. The cast includes Hungarian and Romanian actors.

LJUBLJANA: Petra Seliškar is currently shooting her sixth documentary Land of Sar / Dežela Šarplaninca in the Solunska Glava mountains, in North Macedonia. This French/Slovenian/Macedonian coproduction follows three teenagers spending their summer in the mountains, looking after sheep with the help of shepherd dogs.

SARAJEVO: Teona Strugar Mitevska is finishing the shoot for her sixth film The Happiest Man in The World with two shooting days in Sarajevo, after four weeks of shooting in North Macedonia. The film is a coproduction between North Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Denmark.

BELGRADE: The young Serbian writer/director Nina Ognjanović is currently shooting her debut feature Highway / Autoput on locations close to the village of Topli do, in the vicinity of the town of Pirot. The shooting started on 1 September and is expected to wrap on 20 September 2021.

PRAGUE: Czech actor/playwright/director Jiří Havelka is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature A Unique Event (English working title) / Mimořádná událost. The premiere is already set for 2 February 2022.

RIJEKA: The Pelican / Pelikan, the debut feature by Filip Heraković, produced by Wolfgang & Dolly, started filming in the Croatian spa complex Istarske Toplice.

PODGORICA: The kids feature film Planet 7693 by Gojko Berkuljan is currently shooting in Montenegro. The film is a coproduction between Montenegro, Serbia and North Macedonia, supported by the Film Centre of Montenegro, Film Center Serbia, the North Macedonia Film Agency, as well as the SEE Cinema Network.

BUDAPEST: The shooting of We Started Together (English working title) / Együtt kezdtük, Yvonne Kerékgyártó’s second feature film, started in the first half of August and the cameras will roll till mid-September 2021. The film is a coming-of-age story about a group of nine friends who reunite ten years after graduation.

BUCHAREST: Writer/director/actress Alina Grigore has entered postproduction with her sophomore feature Amid Waters / Între ape (working title). Her debut feature Blue Moon / Crai nou has been selected for the main competition of the San Sebastian FF, running 17-25 September 2021.

BUCHAREST: Romanian writer/director Sebastian Mihăilescu is preparing to start shooting his debut feature Double Happiness on 4 October 2021. Diana Păroiu and Ada Solomon are producing through Romania’s microfilm in coproduction with Ewa Puszczyńska through Poland’s Extreme Emotions and Nina Frese through Germany’s Pandora Film.

BELGRADE: The popular Serbian crime drama series Besa directed by Igor Stoimenov, Nikola Ljuca, Milan Todorović and Maša Nešković finished filming its second season in Estonia, after Montenegro and Serbia, in August 2021 with Nafta Film servicing. It was the first time when a Serbian series was shot in Estonia.

PULA: Final preparations are ongoing for the filming of Pula, the debut feature of renowned Croatian documentarist Andrej Korovljev produced by Kinematograf. The filming is set to start in mid-September 2021 after a year of COVID-19 induced delays, and should last until the end of October 2021.
