NICOSIA: Romantic comedy The Islander, directed by Stelana Kliris and produced by Meraki Films from Cyprus and US Uinta Productions, has entered the final stage of production. The film starring Harry Connick Jr. was entirely shot in Cyprus, the regions of Peyia and Nicosia.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Apolena Rychlíková is currently in postproduction with her documentary The Limits of Europe / Hranice Evropy, which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Ignas Jonynas is currently filming his third feature film Border Wall / Siena, which is supported by the Lithuanian Film Centre.

ZAGREB: Croatian screenwriter/director Silvio Mirošničenko is currently filming Grandpa Guru, a long documentary produced by Croatia’s Točka kulture and coproduced by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Produkcija Scena.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian writer/director Eglė Vertelytė started shooting her sophomore feature after her successful debut with Miracle / Stebuklas (2018). The comedy drama Tasty / Gardutė has already been acquired by the London-based sales agent Film Republic.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Michal Hogenauer is currently in postproduction with his sophomore feature Calm in the Canopy / V korunách stromů je klid (working title), which is estimated to be finished in 2023.

PRAGUE: Czech director/writer Tomáš Klein is currently in postproduction with his feature film A Sensitive Person / Citlivý člověk, which is based on the eponymous novel by Jáchym Topol. The project is estimated to be finished in 2023.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian filmmaker Dean Radovanović has started the production of his debut feature Second Hand People / Polovni ljudi. The film is being made as a Serbian/Estonian coproduction, supported by Film Center Serbia and the Estonian Film Institute.

SOFIA: Following a summer/autumn shooting carried out in three steps in Bulgaria, London and Beverly Hills, the new dramatic thriller The Wheels of Heaven, produced by Dessy Tenekedjieva’s Sofia based Black Sea Film in association with UK’s Goldfinch, entered postproduction in London.

BELGRADE: Belgrade-based Firefly Productions has started the production of the TV series Frust, a dark comedy thriller directed by Academy Award-winner Danis Tanović. The 6 x 55-minute series is created by Srđan Vuletić and Gabor Krigler.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Vasilije Nikitović started the production of his sophomore feature The Crown / Kruna, with the score composed by Goran Bregović, who is also among the actors.

PRAGUE: Czech director/producer Jan Strejcovský is currently in production with his first long documentary Is It Worth It? / Má to cenu?, which is estimated to be finished in 2024.

SKOPJE: Macedonian production company Riefenstahl released the first season of the teen TV series Teen Camp directed by Marko Gjokovik. The first episode of the spin-off of the popular TV show Dajte muzika premiered on MRT1 on 15 October 2022 and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 20.15 CET.

BUCHAREST: Paul Negoescu is currently filming a sequel to his domestic BO hit Two Lottery Tickets / Două lozuri. Produced again independently by Actoriedefilm.ro, Three Lottery Tickets / Trei lozuri (working title) has its premiere loosely set for the autumn of 2023.

WARSAW: Maciej Kawulski’s new feature film Mr. Blot's Academy / Akademia Pana Kleksa, based on the bestselling children's novel by Jan Brzechwa and currently in production, will be divided into two parts. Polish viewers will see the first one at the end of 2023, but before that an entire metaverse, including NFTs related to the title, will be created.
