BUCHAREST: Director/producer and Castel Film Studios’s CEO Vlad Păunescu has completed filming on his sophomore feature The Ladder / Scara, which shot in September and October 2019. The account of Romania in the turbulent years 1989-1990 is supported by the Romanian Film Centre. The premiere has been set for 15 June 2019.

BUCHAREST: Brigitte Drodtloff is in development with her debut feature Chopin's Wunderkind, a biopic of piano prodigy Carl Filtsch, who was born in today’s Romania and became the protégé of Chopin at a very young age. The film is a Romanian/German/US coproduction produced by Gabriela Suciu through Atelier de Film Romania. The project has already been approved for the cash rebate in Romania.

TBILISI: The venerated Georgian film director Lana Gogoberidze is completing postproduction on the Georgian/French feature drama Golden Thread. Her 1978 film Some Interviews on Personal Matters (1978) is one of the most prominent films in the history of Georgian cinema, where the content and form of the film are uniquely matched.

BRATISLAVA: The epic historical TV series Slavs / Slovania is a Slovak/Ukrainian coproduction between Wanda Hrycová´s Wandal Production and Andrey Yermak´s European partnership media group. The 12-part series will premiere in September 2020 on TV JOJ in Slovakia and 1+1 channel in the Ukraine.

PRODUCTION: Georgian Director Zaza Khalvashi Starts Shooting Rain on Two Sides
TBILISI: Georgian director Zaza Khalvashi will begin shooting his new feature film Rain on Two Sides in mid-October 2019. His latest Georgian/Lithuanian coproduction Namme, which had its international premiere at the Tokyo Film Festival in 2017, is considered by many Georgian film critics as a pearl of modern Georgian cinema. The cinematographer is Giorgi Shvelidze, whose work on Namme earned him the Spotlight Award in Los Angeles at the American Society of Cinematographers in 2019.
Second Season of Carnival Row to Film in Croatia
DUBROVNIK: Croatia was added to the list of filming locations for the second season of Carnival Row, a Victorian fantasy produced by the Amazon Studios, starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne in the lead roles. The first season of the acclaimed show was filmed in the Czech Republic, with additional shooting in Germany and the USA.
