SOFIA: Bulgarian-born Canadian animator Theodore Ushev is preparing his first feature film The Spinning Top. Romanian, Macedonian and Serbian coproducers are welcomed. Ushev was nominated at the Oscars 2017 in the Short Animated Film Category with Blind Vaysha.

LJUBLJANA: New international coproducers have been confirmed for the contemporary psychological drama History of Love by Sonja Prosenc and the shooting started in Italy on 26 June 2017.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Raško Miljković’s debut feature Which Hunters / Zloginje is currently in postproduction, with the release set for February 2018. This Serbian/Macedonian coproduction is a children film shot from May to the end of June 2017.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Dragan Marinković is in postproduction with his fifth feature film, Leeches / Pijavice, set for release in 2018. The film is a Serbian/Croatian/Macedonian coproduction and is based on a book under the same title by David Albahari, who also penned the screenplay together with Marinković.

ŁÓDŹ: Documentary The Director’s Chair, Mostafa Derkaoui / Fauteuil de cinéaste, Mostafa Derkaoui directed by Sophie Delvallée wrapped shooting in Poland. The film is a French/Moroccan/Polish coproduction with Poland’s Entertain Pictures coproducing.

TALLINN: Estonia’s Homeless Bob Production is coproducing the Russian/Estonian/French film The Man Who Surprised Everyone from directors Natalya Merkuloa and Alexey Chupov.
PRODUCTION: Wojciech Smarzowski in Preproduction with New Drama
CRACOW: Wojciech Smarzowski is working on a new crime drama about the Catholic Church reform in Poland under the working title 3. The shoot is planned to launch in August 2017.
PRODUCTION: Creative Doc Greimas. The System of Bolts in Production
VILNIUS: A creative documentary by director Saulius Beržinis, Greimas. The System of Bolts / Greimas. Varžtų sistema is in production. Principle photography began in April 2017 and will wrap in February 2018. Some shooting already took place in Lithuania, but the principal shooting will be in France (Paris and Chause), where people who knew Greimas are still alive.

BUCHAREST: Radu Muntean (One Floor Below) will start shooting his new feature film Alice T. at the beginning of August 2017. The film will be a Romanian/Swedish/French coproduction with the premiere set for 2018.

TALLINN: Director Kaur Kokk finished the principal shooting of his debut feature The Riddle of Jaan Niemand in June 2017. The film, produced by Homeless Bob Production, is one of the five full-length features being made in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.

ZAGREB: Actress/producer Marija Ratkovic Vidakovic is penning, producing and co-directing together with Dinka Radonic her first film, the autobiographical documentary In Search of a Lost Country / U potrazi za izgubljenom državom (working title).
PRODUCTION: The End of the Chain Premieres at Karlovy Vary
TALLINN: The End of the Chain by director Priit Pääsuke will have its world premiere at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the East of the West Competition. The film, produced by Marianne Ostrat from Alexandra Film, is the feature debut for both the director and the producer. The script is based on Paavo Piik’s stage play of the same name. KVIFF will run this year from 30 June to 8 July 2017.

TALLINN: Moonika Siimets finished shooting her debut feature The Little Comrade on 1 June 2017. The film is produced by Riina Sildos, the head of the production company Amrion. The script is written by Moonika Siimets, it is based on autobiographic novels Comrade Kid and Grown-Ups and Velvet and Sawdust by the beloved Estonian author Leelo Tungal.
