PRAGUE: The Italian/Czech coproduction Terezín by Gabriele Guidi, coproduced by Three Brothers Production, started shooting in Prague on 30 August 2021. The production is supported by the Prague Film Fund.

SARAJEVO: The acclaimed Bosnian director Pjer Žalica has started shooting his fourth feature film May Labour Day, a coproduction between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro.

BELGRADE: The Serbian director Nenad Milošević is currently in production with his second film, the documentary/fiction hybrid Before the Noise / Pred buku. This Serbian/Bosnian coproduction is narrated by the actor Boris Isaković, famous in Serbia and the region.

TBILISI: German director/screenwriter Veit Helmer is in production with Gondola, a feature film he is currently shooting in the Georgian mountains. This German/Georgian coproduction is the second project by Helmer with Georgia’s Natura Film as a minority coproducer, after The Bra, which premiered at the Tokyo Film Festival in 2018.

PRAGUE: Czech writer/director Alice Nellis started shooting her ninth feature film Buko in Central Bohemia on 19 August 2021. The director calls the film "a spiritual road movie" as it is inspired by her experience with horse-breeding.

LJUBLJANA: Peter Bratuša has started shooting Gaja’s World 2 / Gajin svet 2, the sequel to the well-received romantic teen adventure comedy and Slovenian 2018 box-office hit. The 27-days shooting is taking place at several locations in Ljubljana and on the Slovenian coast (Ankaran) in August and September 2021.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Jonáš Karásek is finishing preproduction on Invalid, an action comedy supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. The shooting is due to start on 10 September 2021.

PODGORICA: Montenegro's coproduction After the Winter / Poslije zime by the Montenegrin writer/director Ivan Bakrač has finished production and will have its world premiere in the East of the West Competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, running 20-28 August 2021. The film is a coproduction with Croatia and Serbia.

PODGORICA: Bojan Stijovic is in development with his feature debut Brothers / Braca, a drama written by the European Prize for Literature winner Stefan Boskovic.

PRAGUE: The Czech director/writer Simon Holy is in development with his second feature film, Thinking David, an LGBT/coming-of-age drama.

SOFIA: The acclaimed documentary director Tonislav Hristov completed the Helsinki shooting of his fiction debut The Good Driver on 6 August 2021. The film is a coproduction between Finland’s Making Movies Oy and Bulgaria’s Soul Food, and was supported by Eurimages.

TBILISI: The Georgian director Levan Koguashvili has begun postproduction on the feature documentary Georgian Pandemic, which he shot from April 2020 to January 2021 in Georgia.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Andrei Tănase is currently shooting his debut feature Tiger, a Romanian/French/Greek coproduction involving a real tiger.

VILNIUS: The German film production company Story House Pictures GmbH is shooting the television series Sisi in Lithuania. The local production company is UAB Nordic Productions. The company also worked on the film Siberian upbringing / Sibirietiškas auklėjimas, with John Malkovich, Eleanor Tomlinson and Peter Stormare, and on the Italian series Anna Karenina (2013) directed by Christian Duguay and produced by Lux Vide.

PRAGUE: Hungarian-Romanian director Cristina Grosan is currently shooting her sophomore feature Ordinary Failures / Běžná selhání. Shooting started on 28 June 2021 and will wrap 18 August 2021. The film is a coproduction between Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy and Slovakia.

BUDAPEST: A ten-part big budget Hungarian series Rise of the Raven (working title) is being made about John Hunyadi, a leading Hungarian military and political figure in the 15th century, who is also called the saviour of Europe after defeating the Ottoman Empire at the siege of Nándorfehérvár, present day Belgrade.
