PRAGUE: The Czech State Cinematography Fund selected ten films from 31 applications to receive minority coproduction funding. A total of 769,971 EUR / 20m CZK was allocated for this call, which included feature films, documentaries and animation.
PRAGUE: The famous Czech actor Jan Tříska (80), who lived in Los Angeles for many years, died in Prague on 25 September after falling from the Charles Bridge on 23 September 2017.

GRANTS: Prague Film Fund Supports Four Foreign Projects Including New Xavier Dolan Project
Czech Republic 08-09-2017PRAGUE: The Prague Film Fund is distributing 203,000 EUR / 5.3 m CZK to four international projects coming from India, Canada, France and Germany it its first call. The fund will support three feature films and one TV film, including the new project by Xavier Dolan.
PRAGUE: The State Cinematography Fund is supporting the development of eight projects with 248,322 EUR / 6,475,000 CZK.
LOS ANGELES: Czech film director Martin Krejčí starts shooting his debut feature The True Adventures of Wolfboy, starring John Turturro, in the US at the beginning of September 2017.
PRAGUE: Carnival Row, an eight-episode fantasy noir series co-directed by Paul McGuigan and Guillermo del Toro, and starring Orlando Bloom, is set to begin filming in the Czech Republic in autumn 2017. The series is produced by Legendary Television for Amazon with Stillking servicing.

PRAGUE: Award winning film and TV director Robert Sedláček starts shooting a feature film dedicated to Jan Palach, who committed self-immolation after the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact armies in 1968. The Czech/Slovak coproduction Jan Palach will be released on 21 August 2018, the day of the 50th anniversary of the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia.
