Obsurantist Wins FNE Visegrad Prix at Jihlava
JIHLAVA, CZECH REPUBLIC: Obscurantist and His Lineage or the Pyramids' Tearful Valleys(Tmář a jeho rod aneb Slzavé údolí pyramid, Czech Republic/Slovakia, 2011)by legendary Czech experimental documentary filmmaker Karel Vachek won the second annual Film New Europe Visegrad Prix for the best Central European documentary coproduction at the 15th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival (www.dokument-festival.com).
The jury, consisting of Paolo Benzi (Producer, Italy), Pavel Jech (Screenwriter and Dramaturgist, Czech Republic), Necati Sönmez (Documentary film festival director, Istanbul, Turkey), and Aida Vallejo (Film historian, Spain) awarded the film with the following statement: "By engaging enduring philosophical themes and by constantly tinkering with the crafts of cinema the filmmaker courageously demonstrates how cinema can contribute and enrich the modes of human perception and thinking. The film reveals an uncompromising faith in humanity - especially when recognizing its innumerable failings - and an enthusiastic personal belief in cinema as an inexhaustible form of expression and experience."
Nominations for the second edition of the FNE Visegrad Prix for best documentary film coproduction from a Visegard country have been announced
The films are all screening in the15th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival held in Jihlava, Czech Republic (25-30 October 2011) official programme. The final selection will be made by the festival's Between the Seas jury and announced at the festival's closing ceremony.
Best Intentions awarded FNE Visegrad Prix 2011 for best fiction coproduction
WARSAW: The Hungarian coproducer of Adrian Sitaru's Best Intentions has been awarded the prestigious FNE Visegrad Prix for best fiction coproduction. The prix was awarded at the closing ceremony of Jameson CineFest - Miskolc International Film Festival 2011 (17-25 September). Hungarian coproducer Emoke Vagasi of Cor Leonis Films (http://www.corleonisfilms.hu/) collected the 1000 euros cash prize from FNE editor Cathy Meils at the festival's gala closing ceremony on 24 September 2011.
FNE Visegrad Prix 2011 Nominations for Fiction Coproduction Announced
WARSAW: Nominations for the second edtion of the FNE Visegrad Prix for best fiction film coproduction from a Visegard country have been announced. The films are all screening in the Jameson CineFest - Miskolc International Film Festival 2011 (17-25 September) official programme. The final selection will be made by the festival's main jury and announced at the festival's closing ceremony.

FESTIVALS: Adrienn Pál wins first FNE/Visegrad Coproduction Prize 2010
PECS: Hungarian production company KMH Film Productions and producer Ferenc Pusztai received the first Film New Europe Visegrad Prix at the closing ceremony of CinePécs IFF in Pecs on 10 October 2010 for the feature film Adrienn Pál, a Hungarian - Dutch - French - Austrian co-production. The prize recognizes the artistic achievements of filmmakers in the Visegrad countries and encourages cultural cooperation between partners within Visegrad and partners of other EU countries.
