Romanian Film Archive Finishes 4K Restoration of Classic Moromeții at Cinelabs Romania
Romania 11-12-2019BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Archive has finalised the 4K restoration of Stere Gulea’s black and white drama Moromeții (1987), which is considered one of the best Romanian films of all times. The restoration was entirely made at Cinelabs Romania.
BUCHAREST: Writer/director Andrei Gruzsniczki is currently in postproduction with his fourth feature film, Emil (working title), a 100% Romanian coproduction supported by the Romanian Film Centre.

Kino Gaj is an independent, city-owned cinema, situated in the very centre of the city of Varaždin. Its programme consists mostly of European, independent and Croatian films, festival films and documentaries.

BUCHAREST: Romanian company Seven Film has recently serviced Sweden’s Miso Film in the production of the crime series Box 21, based on the first bestseller from the series written by Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström. The project has been already approved for 35% cash rebate in Romania and is currently in postproduction, with the Nordic premiere on Viaplay set for 2020.
BUCHAREST: Vintage Sahia, the first web platform with films produced by the Communist documentary studio Alexandru Sahia between 1950 and 1990, was recently launched in Romania by One World Romania as a pilot-project that will be developed in the following years.
Martin Campbell’s The Asset Starring Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson to Shoot in Romania
Romania 25-11-2019BUCHAREST: Martin Campbell’s The Asset, starring Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson and Maggie Q, will be shot in Romania for 10 weeks starting 8 January 2020. The project will benefit from Romania’s cash rebate scheme. The producers are working with Frame Film, which is servicing Riccardo Chemello’s Dampyr, currently shooting in Romania.

BUCHAREST: An episode of the third season of the Emmy award winning TV series Killing Eve was shot in Romania in October 2019. Alien Films Entertainment is again servicing and the production was approved for Romania’s cash rebate scheme. A two-week shoot for the first season took place in Bucharest in 2017, when the capital of Romania doubled for Moscow and Paris.
BUCHAREST: Director/producer and Castel Film Studios’s CEO Vlad Păunescu has completed filming on his sophomore feature The Ladder / Scara, which shot in September and October 2019. The account of Romania in the turbulent years 1989-1990 is supported by the Romanian Film Centre. The premiere has been set for 15 June 2019.
