BUCHAREST: Iura Luncaşu's Sweet Little Lies/Minte-mă frumos produced by MediaPro Pictures (www.mediapropictures.com) has set a new opening weekend record, narrowly besting the box office record set by Tudor Giurgiu's Of Snails and Men (www.despreoamenisimelci.ro), produced by Libra Film (www.librafilm.net), just one month earlier.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian National Film Fund (www.mnf.hu) has awarded 29,750 EUR (8.5 m HUF) in development grants to four projects directed by JúliaSára, János Edelényi and Gábor Rohonyi, and Mónika Mécs. The fourth project does not have a director yet.

BUDAPEST: Director and screenwriter Attila Till is completing the development phase of Kills on Wheels, the story of a wheelchair-bound gang of assassins.
BUCHAREST: Romanian documentary filmmaker Thomas Ciulei (The Flower Bridge) is in postproduction with his first feature film 2+2, a dark comedy set during communism in a country named Miranda where a film director and an actor are punished for trying to flee the country.
BUCHAREST: The National Radiocommunications Society (www.radiocom.ro) will receive a TV digital multiplex to broadcast Romanian TV public channels (www.tvr.ro).
BUCHAREST: Two years after his feature debut with The Other Irina, Andrei Grusznicki is preparing to shoot a black and white drama set in communist Romania starting 15 October with Velvet Moraru and Icon Production producing.
