BUCHAREST: Nae Caranfil’s comedy 6.9 on the Richter Scale had 12,606 admissions in its opening weekend, a very good result for a country where attendance to domestic comedies took off in 2016. The film is a Romanian/Bulgarian/Hungarian coproduction dealing with popular fears such as earthquakes and ageing.
BUCHAREST: Admissions to domestic films almost doubled in 2016, thanks to the domestic comedies #selfie69 by Cristina Iacob and Two Lottery Tickets by Paul Negoescu. Box office increased by 10.21 percent and total admissions increased by 7.46 percent.
BUCHAREST: Romanian actor Ion Besoiu passed away on 18 January 2017 at the age of 85. He was one of the most popular Romanian film and stage actors.
TBILISI: Total admissions increased by 59.74 percent and total gross increased by 46.35 percent, while attendance to domestic films dropped by 85.78 in 2016. This can be explained by the fact that the number of international titles continued to increase, while domestic films dropped from nineteen in 2015 to ten in 2016.
ZAGREB: Total admissions increased by 13.5 percent from 3,969,040 in 2015 to 4,505,139 in 2016, while admissions to domestic films slightly decreased by 6.55 percent.
