The script written by Grigor Lefterov follows a homeless boy Hristo, who manages to find a job and a place to live, but loses them both not long after that. Forced to go back to the streets, he hits the limits of surviving. The painful search for a job forces him to make a difficult moral choice.
“We see our main task as a striking balance between reality and fiction. Our aim is to make the audience feel less like a film audience, but more like direct witnesses of what is happening on screen”, Grigor Lefterov and Todor Matsanov told FNE.
Bulgaria’s Lema Film produced the film in coproduction with Italy’s IdeaCinema with a budget of 570,000 EUR. The Bulgarian National Film Center supported the film with 325,000 EUR. The Bulgarian National Television already acquired the broadcast rights.
The cast includes popular actors Julian Vergov, Stefan Mavrodiev, Lubomir Neikov, Dimitar Rachkov and Pavel Popandov.
The film was shot with a very reduced crew during eight weeks between November 2014 and February 2015. Most of the locations are industrial halls and warehouses in the suburbs of Sofia.
Right after the Golden Rose NFF, the film will compete in the 1st and 2nd Films Competition of the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival (7-16 October, 2016), the 9th CinEast FF Luxembourg (7-16 October, 2016) and in the 39th Sao Paulo IFF (22 October - 4 November, 2016).
