According to reports in the Sofia Echo, the festival begins with the Danish film We Shall Overcome. The festival screens films that are co-productions between two or more European countries. This year's event offers a special focus on Croatian co-productions, with screenings of five recent films.

The Festival of European Co-productions is cooperating with the International Short Film Festival - In the Palace, which takes place in Balchik from June 23-30. A selection of films from the Sofia festival will be screened in Balchik. In addition, Sofia audiences will have the opportunity to help with the selection of competition films for the Balchik festival, during a film marathon on June 7 and 8.
