BUCHAREST: The acclaimed Romanian actress Maria Popistașu and screenwriter Alexandru Baciu are in final postproduction with their debut feature as directors. Y is a Romanian/Greek coproduction supported by the Romanian Film Centre and the Greek Film Centre.

VILNIUS: The French/Italian/Georgian drama April by Dea Kulumbegashvili won the award for best film in the main competition of the 30th Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris (7 – 23 March 2025).

LIMASSOL: Producers, directors and scriptwriters from the Mediterranean region can still apply to the 6th Dot.on.the.Map Ιndustry Days. The coproduction, training and networking platform of the 23rd Cyprus Film Days International Festival for film industry professionals, will be held in Limassol 10 – 12 April 2025.

One of the most prominent film events in the Baltics – the Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 16–26 October) – has opened the application process for the four competitions in its 12th season, as ever relentlessly highlighting distinctive and innovative cinema. Until 30 June, applications are open for feature films competing for the main prize of the festival, short films by Latvian authors, as well as music videos from across the Baltics. PRAGUE: The 27th One World International Human Rights Film Festival has announced the winners for its main part held in Prague 12 – 20 March 2025. Songs of Slow Burning Earth by Olha Zhurba, a coproduction between Ukraine, Sweden and Denmark, won the International Competition Jury Award for Best Film.

PRAGUE: The main award of the 14th East Doc Platform was presented to the Polish project Inner Landscapes by Zofia Sawicka. In all, 19 awards were announced at the biggest industry event for Central and Eastern European documentaries.

BUDAPEST: The Francophone Film Days took place in Budapest from 27 February to 9 March, and it continues in Hungary till 31 March 2025. This year, the festival presents 23 titles over nearly 200 screenings in 18 towns.

VILNIUS: Meeting Point Vilnius (MPV) has announced the winning projects of its latest edition held 17 – 20 March 2025.

The Croatian Audiovisual Centre distributed 496,500 EUR for 11 minority coproductions on 17 March 2025.

BUCHAREST: The New Year That Never Came and The Moromete Family 3 lead the nominations for the 19th Gopo Awards with 13 nods each, followed by Three Kilometers to the End of the World with 9 nominations. The Gopo Awards Gala will be held at the „I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre in Bucharest on 29 April 2025.
