Funerals and Family Drama Sweep Pula IFF Awards

    Bobo Jelčić's unconventional Croatian feature on the fierce dilemma forced upon a man by the funeral of a friend, A Stranger (www.spiritus-movens.hr), swept seven of the main competition awards as the Pula IFF (http://pulafilmfestival.hr) wrapped this weekend.

    The film, feted for director, Jelčić's script, lead actor Bogdan Diklić, lead actress Nada Đurevks, the cinematography of Erol Zupčević, and art direction by Mario Ivezić, also took best film honors and a 4,000 EUR prize for producer Zdenka Gold.

    Family drama Hush (www.kinorama.hr) by Lukas Nola also impressed jurors, winning the debut performer prize for Tihana Lazović, supporting actress prize for Lana Barić, supporting actor for , best sound, makeup, music and editing for Slaven Zečević.

    Comedy The Priest's Children (www.interfilm.hr) by Vinko Brešan took best supporting actor for Nikša Butijer and children's film The Mysterious Boy (www.kinorama.hr) won costume design honors for Emina Kušan.
