Being Related to John Malkovich by Luka Mavretić received 2,000 EUR for project development. The story of a young screenwriter, poet and film lover exploring the family myth of kinship with a famous Hollywood actor has been recognised as a “layered, interesting, witty and fresh perspective on family relationships and heritage,” according to the jury.
The ZagrebDox Pro Online Mentor Award, which brings a one-year online mentorship with producer Vanja Jambrović, was given to the project Cabin Pressure by Eszter Nagy and Sáre Czira (Hungary, Spain), which accompanies a young unmarried woman on a journey to non-traditional motherhood.
A total of 12 projects participated in this year's edition of ZagrebDox Pro, the training programme organised by the ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival since 2006 with the support of the Creative Europe - MEDIA Programme of the European Union, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the City of Zagreb, the Croatian Film Directors' Guild (DHFR) and the Croatian Screenwriters and Playwrights Guild (SPID).
