ZAGREB: A poignant drama Julie Keeps Quiet by debutant Belgian writer/director Leonardo Van Dijl won the Golden Pram for the best feature film at the 22nd Zagreb Film Festival.

ZAGREB: The biopic Dražen, directed by Danilo Šerbedžija and produced by Kinoteka, recorded the most successful opening weekend for a Croatian film in the past decade, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. Drawing 23,071 viewers and grossing 137,895 EUR, it also ranked as the most-watched film of the weekend, according to boxoffice.hr.

ZAGREB: Zagreb Film Festival (4 – 10 November 2024) will showcase 10 feature films in its main programme, of which nine competing for the festival’s top honour, the Golden Pram.

SPLIT: Croatian actor Josip Lukić is currently in production with his directorial debut feature Mom’s Alive Today / Danas je mama živa!. The film is a Croatian/Serbian/Kosovar joint, supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and Film Center Serbia.

ZLARIN: The Croatian island of Zlarin and the nearby Blitvenica lighthouse have become the backdrop for Bumblebee’s Flight / Bumbarov let, a children’s adventure film directed by Daniel Kušan. The film is produced by Croatia’s Interfilm in coproduction with Serbia’s Zillion Film and North Macedonia’s Krug Film.

ZAGREB: Petar Krelja, one of Croatia’s most important documentary film directors and film critics, passed away after a long illness at the age of 85. Born in Štip, Macedonia, Krelja made his home in Croatia, where he left an indelible mark on the country’s cinematic landscape.

PULA: The debut feature Celebration / Proslava directed by Bruno Anković won four Arena awards at the 71st Pula Film Festival (11 – 18 July 2024), including the Grand Golden Arena for the best film in the Croatian competition.

ZAGREB : The Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) allotted 3,673,000 EUR for the production of feature films, documentaries, animation and minority coproductions.

ZAGREB: The acclaimed Croatian director/screenwriter Antonio Nuić wrapped the shooting of his new feature film Loop / Petlja on 3 June 2024. The entire film was shot in 19 days in the CineCro studio (Zagreb) where, in addition to the classic filming, more than half of the shots were created using virtual scenography and LED screens.

NOVSKA: Representatives of the Croatian government, the Sisak-Moslavina County and the City of Novska co-presented an agreement granting the release of 26.3 m EUR from the EU’s Just Transition Fund for a Game Industry Center, which will be built in the Entrepreneurial Zone of the City of Novska.
