Written by Krobot and shot in the Jeseníky Mountains, Nowhere in Moravia / Díra u Hanušovic chronicles love’s pitfalls in a small authentic Moravian village, that suffers from uncontrollable depopulation.
"The Jeseníky Mountains shape their inhabitants and vice-versa," the director told FNE. "The mountains are a reflection of the people who live there. That includes innkeeper Maruna, who is searching for a partner among the local men while dealing with the problems of her sister, mother and staff.”
Many popular Czech actors star in the film, including Tatiana Vilhelmová, Ivan Trojan and Simona Babčáková.
Nowhere in Moravia was produced by Evolution Films in coproduction with the Czech Television, RWE, Soundsquare. It was made with a budget of 800,000 EUR, of which 115,000 EUR / 3m CZK came from the State Cinematography Fund. Eeap Film Distribution released it in March 2014.
Nowhere in Moravia won three Czech Lions, for best leading actor (Ivan Trojan), best supporting actress (Lenka Krobotová) and best supporting actor (Jaroslav Plesl).
