PLZEN: Radim Špaček’s coming-of-age film Places / Mista is part of a trilogy examining the changing face of the contemporary Czech Republic. The film will be screened within the 28th edition of Finale Plzen running from 26 April to 2 May 2015.

The story written by Ondřej Štindl explores love, loss and revenge, taking an original look at life in the Czech Republic of the 90s. The producer Vratislav Šlajer calls the film "the perfect metaphor for a young country emerging into a new political and social landscape.”

Places was shot in and around Ústí nad Labem during 33 days with a cast of progressive young actors, Vladimír Polívka, Johana Matoušková and Jan Cina. Jaromír Kačer, the DoP, was awarded by the Czech Critics for best cinematography in 2014.

The film is a Czech/Slovak coproduction between BionautPubres and the Czech Television‎. It was supported by the State Cinematography Fund and was made in cooperation with Soundsquare and i/o post. The budget is 1.2 m EUR / 27m CZK.

CinemArt released the film in the Czech Republic in September 2014.
