The project with the total budget of 1.3 m EUR was supported by the Czech State Cinematography Fund and the Slovenian Film Centre. Ivan Ostrochovský of Slovakia’s Punkchart Films, Rok Biček of Slovenia’s Cvinger Film and Czech TV are coproducing.
Jackdaws on the Road, with a screenplay by Petr Pýcha, is a road movie about Mára and Heduš, two boys on the run in a stolen car. They’re just twelve years old and they might never have a greater feeling of freedom again than during these two days. Their trip is framed by a parallel storyline: an investigation at a police station, as one of them was caught for driving without a license. The story explores the transition between childhood and adulthood.
