Filmotor specialises in the distribution of independent documentaries made by first and second time directors.
In a statement, the Prague-based company said: “We are extremely excited to start the new partnership with Cinemarket. We are all facing certain difficulties with regards to traditional distribution. Distributors in Europe seem to have partners they are used to work with and are not so flexible in adjusting to market changes. Cinemarket brings us the possibility to sell our films on more frontiers without physical barriers! We are proud to be the world sales company that is keen on trying the new models.”
Filmotor was founded at the end of 2017. It’s recent acquisitions include the Venice-screened documentary Beautiful Things by Giorgio Ferrero and Federico Biasin and the Finnish documentary Eastern Memories by Niklas Kullström and Martti Kaartinen. The company’s catalogue also includes the Czech documentary about the only Cold War spy who penetrated the CIA, Karel Koecher, Rino: The Spy Story by Jakub Wagner (Screenfabric; Czech Television).
