Czech Television told its governing council last week that it registered 3.58 million television sets by end-2007, a 2% rise over the previous year.
The license fee has been raised to 135 crowns, up from 120 crowns last year, in exchange for CT to drop most advertising, according to the news agency CTK. However, CT will continue to broadcast commercials during the transition from analog to digital broadcasting in the country. The income will be set aside for development of terrestrial digital TV broadcasting and digitalisation of CT's archive.
