Innocence sold to France and Benelux

    PRAGUE: Innocense, by Czech director Jan Hřebejk, has been sold to France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, producer Rudolf Biermann of Infilm announced. Biermann signed a distribution and franchise contract with French company Le Pacte (www.le-pacte.com/index.php/international). In Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands, distribution company Cinematheque (www.cinematheque.be) will represent Hřebejk´s movie.

    Innocense is a co-production between Infilm, Czech producer Tomáš Hoffman's company Infinity, TV Nova (www.nova.cz) and distribution company Bontonfilm (www.bontonfilm.cz). Biermann produced Hřebejk's last drama, Kawasaki´s Rose, which premiered at the 2009 Berlinale film festival and recently opened in US distribution

    The CZK 20 million (800 000 euros) film, a fatal love story of crime and punishment, had a widely positive reviews after its premiere on 20 January 2011. The story centers on a respected family of doctors which faces legal accusation against one of its members: a well-known doctor (played by Ondřej Vetchý) accused of raping his 14-year old patient. The cast is also headed by Czech actress and Berlinale Shooting Star Anna Geislerová.

    Biermann is currently working with Hřebejk on another film project: a big-budget coproduction based on a Simon Mawer´s bestseller about the famous Czech villa Tugendhat.
