Vendeta is the feature full-length debut for director Miroslav Ondruš. However, Šlajer previously worked with Ondruš on the critically successful czech thriller Walking Too Fast (Pouta), which recently won prizes in four top categories at the Czech Lion film awards. Ondruš was assistant director to director Radim Špaček on the film, which Šlajer produced.

"We want to shoot a full-bodied, uncompromising thriller on crime and revenge, a dramatic story about the collision of two strong characters, playd by the excellent actors Ondřej Vetchý and Oldřich Kaiser," Šlajer said. The cast also includes Igor Chmela, Marek Taclík and young Czech actress Lucie Šteflová.

Cinematographer Martin Štrba and music composer Petr Ostruchov are also working on Vendeta. The film has a budget of 20 million CZK (830,000 euros). The Czech State Fund for Support and Developement of Czech Cinematography supported the movie with a grant of CZK 5 million (210,000 euros).
