The 48th Zlin International Film Festival for Children and Youth awarded 16 films during its closing ceremony on June 7. Top prizes went to Where is Winky's Horse?, a Dutch/Belgium film by Mischa Kamp (Best Feature Film for Children); The Substitute, a Danish film by Ole Bornedal (Best Feature Film for Youth); and The Bear Stories, a Russian film by Marina Karpova (Best Animated Film).
Some 50,000 spectators attended screenings in Zlin, while total attendance at festival events reached nearly 100,000.
The eight festival juries also handed out prizes for the following: Gabai Granny, directed by Hitoshi Kurauchi, Japan, (Children Jury for Feature Films for Children); St Trinian's, directed by Oliver Parker, Barnaby Thompson, Great Britain (Children Jury for Feature Films for Youth) Just About Love?, directed by Lola Doillon, France (European Debut Competition); and Iska's Journey, directed by Csaba Bollók, Hungary (Feature Films from Visegrad Countries).
