The films well judged by an international jury that includes Japanese actress Kiki Sugino who was named Best New Actress in 2012 by the Yokohama Film Festival and Osaka Cinema Festival.
The Tridens Herring feature debut competition replaces the previous Baltic competition aiming to present young talent from around the Baltic Sea.
Thirteen films from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as from Poland, Russia, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Norway and Finland will compete for a prize of 5,000 EUR.
Festival director Tina Lokk said, “In the recent years many young and interesting filmmakers have emerged in the Baltic film industry who are up to comparison even in the context of very strong film countries. That's why we decided that the previous Baltic programme needs to be extended.”
