Moira, a film about the poverty of a seaside family, is scheduled to have its world premiere at San Sebastian Film Festival on 23 September 2015. Davit Pirtskhalava, Giorgi Kobalia, Levan Tutberidze wrote the script and the cast includes Paata Inauri, Giorgi Khurtsilava, Zaza Magalashvili, Ketevan Tskhakaia, Jano Izoria and Ani Bebia.
The film is produced by Levan Tutberidze with the Georgian National Film Center supporting and Moira Film handling the sales. According to Interpress News the selection committee was composed of the directors Nana Jorjadze, Zaza Urushadze, Giorgi Ovashvili and Nana Janelidze, actress Nato Murvanidze, writer and screenwriter Vazha Gigashvili, Deputy Culture Minister Kakha Kandelaki and producer Noshre Chkhaidze.
The Summer of Sangaile / Sangailes vasara had its world premiere in Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema Competition where it won the Directing Award, followed by its European premiere in the Panorama section of Berlin Film Festival.
The film is a Lithuanian, French, Dutch coproduction between Fralita Films, Les Films d’Antoine and Viking Film. It was supported by the Lithuanian Film Centre.
The deadline for submissions in the Foreign - Language category of the Oscars is 1 October 2015.
