The announcement was made by Nana Janelidze, the director of GNFC at the Funding News panel at Connecting Cottbus. In summer 2015 the allowance for Georgian elements was only 2 percent.
In summer 2015 Georgia announced that it would launch the tax rebate scheme in January 2016. David Vashadze, Head of Exports and Distribution at the Georgian National Film Center, told FNE in July 2015 that several foreign projects will be shot in Georgia by the end of 2015 including some Indian productions, a British feature and the pilot of a TV series.
“This shows that interest in filming in Georgia already exists, and we think that the ease of the financial side and the customer oriented incentive scheme will increase the number of foreign film productions significantly,” Vashadze said.
