    TBILISI: Nana Ekvtimishvili’s and Simon Gross’s feature film My Happy Family is available on Netflix since 1 December 2017. This Georgian/German/French coproduction is the first Georgian film for which Netflix purchased global distribution rights. It is now available in 130 countries worldwide.

    My Happy Family was produced by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo through Germany’s augenschein Filmproduktion GmbH in coproduction with Simon Gross through Georgia’s Polare Film Llc and Guillaume de Seille through France’s Arizona Production.

    The film premiered in the World Cinema Drama Competition of the Sundance Film Festival and was later selected for the Forum section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. It received 11 awards including the Transilvania Trophy at Transilvania IFF, Best Director award at the Sofia International Film Festival and Special Jury Mention at the Seattle International Film Festival. It was also screened at the Museum of Modern Art within the framework of MOMA Film Week.

    The film stars Ia Shughliashvili and Merab Ninidze, and follows a 52-year-old teacher, a traditional Georgian woman, who all of a sudden decides to leave her family.
