BUDAPEST: According to the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH), the country saw an average of 250 cinema and television films produced with a production value of almost HUF 46 billion in the period between 2010-2014 in Hungary.
According to the European Audiovisual Observatory, spending on film production as a percentage of a GDP was by far the highest in Hungary compared to the rest of Europe.
The tax rebate rate for film production was raised from 20% to 25% this year in Hungary, and one fifth of production costs abroad directly relating to filming in Hungary is still eligible for indirect subsidy. The forint's exchange rate may also have made Hungary an attractive location for filmmakers.
