Les Films de Preau is the French distributor.
Based on a children book well-known in Latvia, Dog Town by Luīze Pastore, this 70-minute animated film follows a little boy Jacob, who goes to the suburbs to spend the summer with his father.
The film was produced by Atomart studio in coproduction with Polish studio Letko and it was supported by the National film Centre of Latvia, the Polish Film Institute and the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA.
Jan Naszewski from New Europe Film Sales told FNE that the film will have two screenings in Berlinale’s European Film Market, running from 7 to 15 February 2019.
Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs / Jēkabs, Mimmi un runājošie suņi was made within the Latvian Films for Latvian Centenary’ programme. The film programme for Latvia’s centenary, which was celebrated in 2018, led to an unprecedented rise of domestic films in the local box office, making the local share to go up to almost 19% of the market compared to 5.7% in 2017.
