VILNIUS: Lithuanian film director Kristina Buožytė‘s third film Vanishing Waves (Aurora), produced by Ieva Norviliene through her company Tremora (www.tremora.com) has been sold to the US, Australia, South Korea, Sweden, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The sci-fi romance will have its Lithuanian premiere on 4 January 2013.

Vanishing Waves had its world premiere at the 47th Karlovy Vary IFF (www.kviff.com) where it won the East of the West special mention. It went on to win a special mention at the Neuchatel Fantasy Film Festival, the the Jury Award at the Palic IFF, and the Emeric Pressburger Prize at the 9th Jameson CineFest in Hungary (www.cinefestlhu). The film was also selected for Montreal Word Cinema Film Festival (Official Selection) and Helsinki Love & Anarchy (Official Selection), and the upcoming Lund Fantastic Film Festival (Competition), Busan IFF (Official Selection), Kaohsiung Taiwan IFF (Official Selection), and Sitges (Official Selection).

Vanishing Waves is an unconventional love story told as a psychological techno thriller. Following a scientific experiment based on neural transfer, a young inhibited man journeys into the mind of a comatose anonymous woman, slowly freeing his instincts and hidden fantasies. The film explores the nature of desire by exposing links and contradictions between the human body and the mind, and their effects on the identity of the person.

The film was coproduced by France’s Acajou Films (www.acajoufilms.com) and managing producer Pascal Judelewicz, and the Belgian company Les films 2 cinema. It was funded by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture (www.lrkm.lt), the Lithuanian Culture Support Foundation (www.krf.lt) EURIMAGES and the EU MEDIA Programme.
