The script written by Paweł Pitera and Jan Wróbel covers 300 years from the history of the Teutonic Order and the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania, from the 13th to the 16th century. Dr Marek Janicki and prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas are historical advisers.
The 100 minute film is a fictionalised documentary with animated elements. It is produced by Dorota Roszkowska through Arkana Studio in coproduction with Kestutis Drazdauskas through Artbox, the Audiovisual Institute (NINA), FDR Studio, the Malbork Castle Museum, MX35 Camera Rental and Film Factory LTD.
The postproduction (including animations, sound production and special effects) took place at the FDR Studio in Warsaw.
The project was supported by the Polish Film Institute, MDR in cooperation with ARTE, the Lithuanian Film Centre, and the Polish-German Co-development Fund.
Habit & Armour was released in Poland on 1 September 2017 and it is currently available on DVD.
