FNE at KVIFF: Tremora Reveals Production Plans

By Cathy Meils

KARLOVY VARY: Lithuanian producer Ieva Norviliene of the production company Tremora (www.tremora.com) told FNE that she has one film in postproduction and four more films in development for production over the next two to three years. They include Vanishing Waves which was presented at the Karlovy Vary IFF (www.kviff.com) Works in Progress.

Vanishing Waves is a 1.2 million euro coproduction between Lithuania, Latvia, France and Belgium, with plans to add a German partner for the final postproduction financing (less than 10% of the budget). It's the second feature film from director Kristina Buozyte (The Collectress). The film should be completed by the end of 2011 or early 2012.

Norviliene, who arrived in Karlovy Vary fresh from receiving the main prize of the Perspectives section at the Moscow IFF for Anarchy in Zirmunai, is in development with Laura and the Movies, which received an initial grant of 17,500 euros from the Lithuanian Cultural Support Foundation. The film has a 1 million euro budget and will likely add German and Latvian coproducers.

Tremora will follow that with Dreg , the third film by director/writer Ignas Miskinis (Low Lights). Now in the early script stage, the story explores a young man whose life changes when he learns his unknown father was far from the hero he dreamed of.

Two further films are in early development for 2012 and 2013. Norviliene will producer her first documentary, a "very low budget" film about a Lithuanian artist and his philosophy. Another low budget film with the working title Three Trees will have a debut director. Norviliene hopes to find a Baltic coproducer for the story about villagers of difference social backgrounds whose lives cross.
