The main competition includes two CEE films: The Erlprince (Poland) directed by Kuba Czekaj and Out (Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic) directed by György Kristóf. Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina are all represented in the CineBalkan competition.
The Square, a coproduction from Sweden, Germany, France, Denmark, that was the recipient of this year`s Cannes Film Festival Palme d`Or, will open the festival. The Macedonian/Greek coproduction Secret Ingredient / Tajnata sostojka directed by Gjorce Stavrevski will close the festival.
The festival will screen a total of 135 movies in several categories - Official Competition and CineBalkan and noncompetitive Gala Program, Music Documentaries Program, Swedish films in Country in Focus Program, Macedonian Short Film Program, CINEDAYS+ Program, Student Program and Children Program. The festival's additional programme includes seven concerts and four workshops.
The Official programme jury is composed of writer and director Semih Kaplanoğlu (president), producer Evgenia Tirdatova and producer Maria Drandaki, while the CineBalkan jury will be composed of Film New Europe correspondent, film critic and producer Pavlina Jeleva, and actors Velibor Topić and Nik Xhelilaj.
The festival will be followed by a 10-day film marathon, which includes 70 films. It is supported by the Macedonian Film Agency and the City of Skopje.
